A traditional tea of Ivatan, Tubho is believed to have antioxidant properties. It is a local fern dried and used as a substitute for coffee.
In 2017, DOST introduced the powdered tubho packed in tea bags in the One Town, One Product of the municipality in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Batanes and other line agencies. And from then onward, the Sabtang Tubho Processors, an affiliate group of the Sabtang Food Processors Association continues to manufacture and market Tubho tea as the primary product of the association.
With the success and continues mass production of Tubho Tea, the DOST provided three (3) units of the Portable Solar Drying Panels to the association. These units will be used as drying facilities of the association for better quality produce, less waste generated, and rotten or spoiled harvest especially on rainy season by providing them easy mobility.

And to continue developing other products from Tubho, an online training on tubho processing was made to share the expertise of the food expert and Provl Director, Ma’am

Nora Tumaneng Garcia. Also present and who gave a warm welcome message was Vice Mayor Marcial Alavado.
The said virtual training was graced by Regional Director Sancho A. Mabborang which made the activity more special. He gave emphasis on the technologies that can be imparted by DOST to the people of Sabtang even during this pandemic.
