PSTC Batanes strives to strengthen food safety system in Batanes. An Advocacy-cum-Training on Food Safety held at Negosyo Center in DTI, Basco, Batanes, in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration. FDA North Luzon Director Jesusa Joyce Cirunay was the resource speaker wherein she discussed the mandates of FDA and roles of stakeholders in strengthening food safety system in the province and in the country. Her discussion also tackles the Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices in food manufacturing. Pre-assessment of applications and requirements of the 15 WMEs was also done by Regional Supervisor, Ms. Alegria G. Ong, in order to fast track their applications for the acquisition of FDA- License To Operate.  The said activities are in support to the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Project in partnership with Phil. Council for Women, in scaling up women-led micro-businesses.

Also, Food Safety topic was integrated during trainings. Some of which is during the technology training on meat processing, a training in partnership with DA and PLGU in response to the pressing concerns on oversupply of pork meat and threat on the African Swine Fever (ASF).; and during a training for staff and stakeholders of National Food Authority (NFA) on their the founding celebration.
