Department of Science and Technology USec. Carol M. Yorobe led the arrival of Directors from the different Regions in the country on April 2. 2014 for the first Regional Directors’ Quarterly Meeting conducted in the province of Batanes which was held at the same day. Secretary Montejo followed the next day where he was welcomed by the Batanes Congw. Dina Abad and RD Tejada with her staff. A short review of the meeting with Sec. Montejo in his arrival.
On the afternoon of April 3, 2014, the group visited selected SETUP beneficiaries in the province specifically in the Batan Island. These are:
- Pableo’s Turmeric Products located at the municipality of Mahatao
- Turnover of cheque to Mahatao LGU’s CEST Project
- Fish Processing Centre of Milagrosa MPC at Itbud, Uyugan
- Village Handicrafts and Novelty Items (Uhangu) at Kaychanarianan, Basco
- Biogas project at Kaychanarianan, Basco
- CAJ Food Processing Project at Kayvaluganan, Basco
- Tawsen Souvenir Shop at Kaychanarianan, Basco, and
- JMP Pasalubong Center located at Kaychanarian, Basco.
They also visited PAGASA Weather Station where one of the new Doppler radar installations in the country was installed, PhiVolcs and the PSTC/PDTC Batanes.
With the cooperation of all the people concern, the visit of DOST’s key officials in the province was a success. Having only micro entrepreneurs in the province is not a hindrance to raise one province’s economic stability and capabilities.
With the help of DOST’s SETUP interventions, we, the people of Batanes especially the micro entrepreneurs who availed this project is so grateful for the help extended to us.
