The Department of Science and Technology Region 02 adopting the new normal, has conducted its first virtual orientation for the new scholarship qualifiers from the province of Batanes and Nueva Vizcaya through the Zoom platform on June 4, 2020.

Eight students from the different schools in the province were able to qualified after passing the 2020 S & T Undergraduate Scholarship Examination held in the province. Even though the orientation is virtual as presented by the Scholarship Unit, the parents and students were invited in the PSTC Batanes to attend the said orientation due to the signal problem in some areas in the province.

During the orientation, Ms. Mary Ann P. Maglasin, Assistant Regional Director for FASS in her message, congratulated the qualifiers and parents as they become part of the government scholars. She encouraged the students to their part as

Ms. Cecille Calagui, the scholarship coordinator in the region, presented the scholarship policies and privileges as stated in the Scholarship Agreement that will be signed by the students and parents. Some of the privileges of the scholars is the Php. 7,000 monthly allowance, the tuition and other school fees of Php. 40,000.00, an outright grant of 10,000 book allowance per year, Php. 1,000 outright grant for PE uniform allowance, premium group insurance, and one round trip travel expenses for those studying outside Batanes.

Moreover, the scholar should enroll in the DOST-SEI S&T priority courses in State Universities and Colleges or tertiary institutions identified as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development by CHED or at least Level III accredited by FAAP for the S&T programs covered They shall also maintain the grade requirement of the scholarship.

Meanwhile, the DOST SEI is now accepting online application through for the 2021 DOST-SEI S&T Undergraduate Scholarships for incoming Grade 12 students of AY 2020-2021. For more details, visit the website:
